I made these curtains today, and it took me all day. I kept messing up so I had to use the seam ripper plenty. The kids were needing me a lot today ex: fighting, spilling, wanting to play with me, so I had many interruptions. When I hung them up and they were too short, I was more than a little annoyed. I fixed it though. I did feel very powerful sitting at my sewing machine without any help from anyone. Jon likes them. I am kind of worried it's too much flower everywhere. What do you think?

Hand-Made Christmas

This year we decided to make gifts for each other and what a great decision that turned out to be! We all had a great time making them, especially the kids. I found all the ideas on Pinterest. I think we have a new tradition here!

The kids painted wooden reptiles for dad.

I made the kids "Movie Night Kits." They included a DVD, popcorn, Strawberry Crush, candy, and a Christmas Blanket.

Aidan and I made magnets for Mikell. She loves putting her pictures on the fridge.

Mikell and Daddy made Aidan a dry-erase board from a picture frame and some scrapbook paper.

Jon and the kids made me some placemats from a Mother Goose book we were getting rid of, and some contact paper.

The kids and I made Brody some crayons out of broken crayons and silicon Christmas molds.

Rrrrarrrgh.

Brody is officially 2. He loves Yo Gabba Gabba so we got him a Muno stuffed animal. Jon tried to put it in bed with him at bedtime and he chucked it on the floor and said, "No Muno! Mousie bed!" Apparently Mousie is the only one with VIP status. Poor Muno had to sleep alone on the floor. Happy Birthday Poopie Bear!

We went for a weekend camping trip. We went and explored our surroundings the next morning. There was a neat little diner in Oakley that was in a train car called the Road Island Diner. While we were on our way back, it started raining. We came back to our camp to find our sleeping bags and everything else in our tent WET! Jon and I put the kids and the car and broke down camp as fast as we could. We just dumped the tent in the trash. It has served us well for 14 years. Reed Family Tent, RIP. September 10, 2011.

For us Mormons, that means you get to dump your kid in the nursery at church instead of holding a squirming toddler on your lap while trying to listen to the lesson while he runs your nylons and smears peanut butter on your dress! The Best Surprise Ever

After being at church in the morning responding to, "You're still here?!" several times, I decided to tell my uterus to get the lead out-it was time to meet the fifth family member. I was having contractions during Sunday school and sacrament meeting but they were far apart. I started timing my contractions at 7:30 at night while I was doing the dishes and cleaning the house. They were coming more quickly and hurting quite badly so we dropped the kids off at our neighbor's and headed to the hospital at about 9:30 PM. The contractions got farther apart as we drove there and I was pretty sure they were going to send me home. It was lightly snowing and a beautiful night and Jon and I discussed going to In-N-Out if things didn't work out.We arrived at the hospital and the contractions started up again! Hurray! I was dilated to a 7. Jon's sister Suzanne was just coming home from the airport and joined us for this happy occasion-thus explaining all these beautiful pictures. She's a wonder.
I was at a 7 for hours and the nurse checking me accidentally broke my water. As soon as she did, I was at a 10 and ready to Rock and Roll. I love that woman. Why didn't she do this sooner?!! They told my doctor to get on over here and fast. I got nauseous and started throwing up for a few minutes-definitely the low point of the night.

Dr. Larson showed up, I pushed one time, and baby was out! It's a Boy!!! Jon, Suzanne, and I all started laughing in amazement. We all thought it would be a girl. What a great surprise. Boys are great. We had the name Jordan picked out, but he didn't look like a Jordan, so we had some thinking to do.

He has a soft, sweet little cry like Aidan did. He was born at 2:32 AM on December 7, 2009, Pearl Harbor Day.

My Jon is very sweet with our babies. They love him and he can always get them to stop crying. He is such a great dad and I really enjoyed our time together at the hospital. We were treated to a nice dinner for 2 from the hospital with sparkling cider, salmon, chicken cordon bleu, and chocolate mousse pie. Suzanne also treated us to In-N-Out and Foster's Donuts imported from Canyon Country, California. (Why Utah cannot come up with a good donut shop is beyond me.)

Some names we discussed were Ethan, Luke, Lucas, and Brendan. Jon said, "Brody" out of the blue, and I had mentioned the name before and liked it. We both instantly liked the match and Jon suggested the middle name of Nathanial, after his Dad's middle name.

He smells so good.

We are so happy to have him. We have been blessed in being able to get pregnant easily and having healthy babies. We are very grateful for our blessings. We love our children so much.

Due to the Swine Flu, the hospital was not letting any children under 14 in the hospital. My room was on ground level so we showed the kids through the window.

There was a big snowstorm on the day we left. We only stayed one night because we anxious to get home to see the kids and show them our new baby. We are very glad we didn't find out what we were having. It was one of the most exciting nights ever. Our family feels complete. We love our little Brody!

All Things Halloween

Halloween is a beloved holiday here at the Reed home. We celebrate all month long watching movies, baking goodies, and decorating our house. Here are a few of Aidan's many decorations he made this year.
Trick or treating in our neighborhood. The kids could barely contain their excitement.

The return of Batman. Aidan was Batman last year too. He had a Bumblebee Transformer costume but wanted to be the maked crusader once again. The dollar I paid for his costume at a garage sale really paid off. 2 years in a row!
Our cute little candy corn (Jon's favorite candy). When people asked Mikell what she was going to be she said, "A cute candy cowin (Mikell accent). She loved wearing her costume. She didn't complain about the hat at all. When Aidan wore this costume he could hardly wait to rip it off! In fact, I have pictures of him crying in it.

It was a fun October and Mikell will most likely cry when I start taking down on the decorations today. Jon and I were schlepps this year and didn't dress up due to the fact that my belly is enormous and Jon worked Saturday night. We ended the night with the kids in bed and Jon coercing me into watching a horribly scary movie called Paranormal Activity. I wish I hadn't watched it as I was stressed out the whole movie and held my pee all night because I was afraid to go in the middle of the night. The things I do for love.

Fall Getaway to Moab, UT

Utah has so many National Parks and Jon and I have a goal to visit them all. We've checked off 2 more just on this trip: Arches and Canyonlands. This is our whole group with Delicate Arch in the background.

The kids in their custom made Moab T's. We went to the T-shirt shop in Moab where you pick out your shirt and what design you want on it.

We camped the last night just outside of Moab next to the Colorado river in this sandy spot.
The kids, especially Mikell, were in heaven digging to their hearts content. Aidan loves spending time with Daddy. He said a prayer that we could find a campsite and we did! One of the last ones. We had bison hot dogs and Taffy cookies for dinner.

Pumps and a Bump- about 6 months

Here's me at almost 6 months prego. No pumps, but definately a bump. We just got back from the gym. Jon says I need to work on my stomach. I tried, but it just keeps getting bigger...
I used to want this...
But now I LOVE this! OK, I'm lying, or rather using positive self talk to convince myself to love healthy food. Jon and I are on a no sugar, no white flour new lifestyle. 4 weeks on, and one week off of bliss, where we can eat whatever we want. It has been very hard for me since I find such joy in eating junk food! We have decided to start teaching our kids now, to eat less junk and more of the good stufff.

Jon lost 18 lbs in a month doing it. He has been working out and man, does he look HOT! I am very proud of him and his progress. This is the sweetner we use called agave nectar. It's very good in cereal instead of sugar.

After what seemed like months of anticipation, our little guy started kindergarten today. He was a little unsure, but very excited. He and Mikell were chauffered the few blocks to school in their wagon by me (huffing and puffing-the both of them weigh over 60 lbs together). The volunteer calls have already begun for a few things at school and I'm excited. It does not seem time has flown by, but has just steadily approached. We are excited for this new stage of our lives! Tomorrow, I'm riding in the wagon.

Glory Days

Jon and I just got rid of our storage unit to try to fit everything we have into our apartment. We went through everything and threw away or sold many of our things. This trophy didn't make the cut, so I thought I would pay it one last tribute as it now resides in the local landfill. In 1993 I was the "Most Valuable Girl" for the Canyon High Track Team in 1993. I used to do the high jump, the 100, the 4x100 relay, long jump, and 100 hurdles. Don't my thighs look awesome?

Camping in the Oven! 4th of July

We decided to go and spend the 4th of July with Jon's Mom and Dad in St. George. We camped at Zion's National Park for 2 nights. It was very fun, but very hot.

Aidan and Mikell have been really cute together. They can play for hours. It's fun listening to their little make believe games. They talk in these funny, high pitched voices. They definately have their squabbles, but for the most part, they have fun playing together. I am glad they are so close.

Jon is our master packer. He can always get everything to fit. I am not allowed to put anything in the van. This is man's work. Speaking of my man, I have to say he was my hero. I woke up itching like crazy from a bad sunburn and couldn't sleep, and Jon walked around the campground with me for an hour or so to help me keep my mind off the misery! He is my best friend.

Grandma Jane named Mikell the queen of marshmellows, but actually, she is the queen of dirt. She just plops herself down on the ground and puts dirt all over herself. She was a filthy mess and I couldn't care less!

Camping was great. We got caught in a rather crazy thunder storm in the middle of cooking our foil dinners. Jon, Dad, and I had to stand over the fire with ponchos and an umbrella so our coals wouldn't go out! Zion's was awesome but next time we go, it will be in the fall or spring!!!

Growing up, if my mom bought sugar cereal, we could hardly wait to wake up the next morning to eat it. We would even sneak it in big cups so we wouldn't get caught eating it after school. Since I have become the coupon queen, I have like 30 boxes of cereal in my pantry because I always find cereal for less than a dollar and sometimes, it comes out to be free. My kids don't even like it that much! Aidan likes Cracklin' Oat bran and Mikell would rather have a scrambled egg. I guess I shouldn't complain since both of those things are healthier than Apple Jacks or Pops but what am I do do with all this stinkin' cereal!! I have eaten Fruit Loops every day for the last 2 weeks just to get rid of the stuff! Oh well, at least we have food to eat! What do your kids have for breakfast?

My kids, Mike, Annie (bro and sis-in-law), and I spent the day at Hill Air Force Base in Layton today for the air show. Whenever I see military, I feel so appreciative of the sacrifice and danger they put themselves in to protect us. They were playing, “America” by Neil Diamond during the Thunderbird show and I almost started crying! I feel so lucky to live here and I am proud to be an American. I am so offended and outraged when I hear our President bad mouth our country. No, we are not perfect, but we are good people, and this is a good country. I fear for the future of this country and the freedoms that are so casually being taken away. I am sad for my children that will be born into unfathomable debt and wish I could do something to change what is happening. I pray for this country, that our leaders will do what is right.

Mikell and Daddy had their special day on May 30. Mikell turned "free" and Jon turned ?? We had a fun breakfast at the Original Pancake House in Sugarhouse and the food was great. After, we took the kids to see "Up" in 3D. It was Mikell's first time at the movie theatre. She sat on Daddy's lap and watched the whole thing. At first, I did not want to have Mikell on Jon's B-day, but now, I think it's cute! Mikell loves her Daddy and loves snuggling with him. Jon is happy with his present of The Sims 3 computer game that we are playing together.

Pregnant Whining

I just wanted to write about how mean and boring I am when I am sick and pregnant. Our house is a disaster. I ate cereal out of a measuring cup last night because it was the only clean dish I could find. My poor kids want to go outside, or want me to play with them and I just don't have it in me. I am nauseous pretty much all day. I am watching my arms and butt get flabby and have no energy to pick up my weights and get to it. I actually told someone I love being pregnant. Isn't it funny how we forget!! It must be a built in instinct to continue the human race. OK, enough whining. I'm an totally excited for this baby and we decided we are not going to find out the sex of the baby until he/she comes out. Well, back to the uninterrupted nausea!!

I am Done!!! I finished this last night. It is a counted cross stitch stocking kit that I began almost 3 years ago for my sweet baby girl, Mikell. She will be 3 next month. There were definitely long periods in between working on it but, it took up quite a chunk of my life. I really like how it turned out and it is my favorite one that I have made so far. (Yes, I am insane and have made 3 others. This is why I am only having one more kid.)

I have a felt and sequined stocking made by my Grandma Riddle that she made for me when I was a kid. My Grandma has been gone for many years and I love having it because it makes me think of her. This is why I decided to make these. I hope my children with cherish them, and yes, they are not allowed to touch them with their chocolaty Christmas candy hands!

Odell Family Reunion

I took the kids to Henderson Nevada for our family reunion. I have never met my Dad's mom's side of the family. There were about 30 people there. We had a blast and got to know everyone. Aunt Maureen (lady in the center wearing black with black hair) is the last surviving sister. She has a funniest personality! She is very spunky.

There was a band playing in our hotel so we all went downstairs and my sis Holly and I danced the night away! Our feet were killing us so we took our shoes off. I was wearing 3 inch heels. stupid.

Uncle Don and Aunt Maggie were our audience taking pictures and laughing at us.

The kids stayed in the jacuzzi for like 6 hours. They had so much fun. They were the only little kids at the reunion.

We had a great dinner at the buffet the first night. The kids kept me busy. They were very cute though. They played together and got along really well. I am glad I got in touch with my Odell roots. They are a sweet and generous family.

These dollar store prego tests never let me down! I am due December 10. I did not want to have a December baby but Jon thought I was being silly so I said what the heck. I am planning on eating lots of ice cream. We are very excited and we think 3 is our magic number. Aidan wants to name the baby Cindy Loo Who.

Jon ditched Aidan's training wheels and taught him how to ride a bike like a real man. He did it on the first try. What a little stud.

Mikell said goodbye to about 8 inches of original hair from the womb yesterday. I was very excited as it takes me about 20 minutes to comb through her tangly hair.

Southern Utah Weekend Escape

Jon suggested we get away for the weekend so we went to visit his mom and dad in Hurricane, UT. The kids slept the whole 4 hour drive. Jon and I listened to music and talked. Aidan at the Sand Dunes in Snow Canyon. The kids were in heaven in this huge "sandbox."

Jon and his parents relaxed and thought up ideas for a bed with sand instead of a mattress, or a "sand room" in the house.

Aidan and Mikell really wanted balloons and bubbles. The kids had fun playing with all of Grandma Jane's interesting, cool toys.

Here we are at a Mom and Pop joint in Hurricane for breakfast. We had french toast. There was a pecan orchard there and Aidan, Mikell, Mom, and I hunted for pecans on the ground.

We gathered tons, enough to make a pie! It was delicioso.We drove to Zion National Park and went on a hike to the beginning of the Narrows. Other trip highlights: In-N-Out, Pirate Island pizza joint, Horton Hears a Who, a tour of cool sites around St. George, and most of all, spending time with fun, sweet, patient, generous and caring grandparents. We love you guys! Thanks for a great weekend!

I had carpal tunnel surgury this morning and my sis-in-law, Suzanne, babysat for us. Jon and I came and picked up Mikell and when I got home Suzanne told me to ck out her blog. Bunk Beds

We got the kids a bunk bed last night. They love it. My sister Julie and I had bunk beds growing up. I think we both fell off once. Julie bit her tongue and had to go get stitches. I just bonked my head really hard. Hopefully they won't get too crazy.

We tried out our new innertubes today. The kids loved it. Aidan went down the hill all by himself and Mikell kept asking to go again. We were all laughing so hard watching everyone go off the jump. Chalyn kept screaming and falling. It was funny. I love my family and have so much fun doing stuff with them. I guess snow is good for something.

'Twas the Night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. (Grandma Jane made these out of fudge, cherries, and Hershey Kisses for the grandkids.) The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nick would soon be there. (I've been working on this stocking for 2 years now, 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. j/k It feels like it though.)

California Times

The kids and I flew down to CA to hang with the family. We stayed with Donald and Heather for a week. We all had a lot of fun! Aunt Heather has become Mikell's buddy always ready to give her some chocolate! It was fun going to church at my old home ward CCII. I made my usual pilgrimage to S&S donuts (twice) getting my usual chocolate eclair and chocolate chip scone. I also ate at In-n-Out twice. I didn't make it to Tiny's Subs. Maybe next time. Aidan at Santa Monica with cousins Sammy and Chloe.

The delicious feast at Auntie Cha Cha's and Uncle Matt's house. Matt made the yummy rolls and it was Chalyn's first turkey. I made jello salad and a pumpkin roll. Aidan found his new love of turkey. I am thankful for my wonderful family, especially my man. I am so happy and grateful that I am living my dream of being a stay at home mom. Life is good.

We are currently staying with family right now in a big beautiful basement. I like our room the best because it is bright and cheery. Hey, who messed up my room? And who un-made my bed?!

Yes, this is where I do my dishes. I just made banana bread so it looks about normal. The basement doesn't really have a full kitchen but I make it work!

I got an action shot of it flushing to make the picture more exciting. We all share this bathroom. I tried potty training Mikell yesterday and she peed her pants. Uhh, diapers aren't so bad.

While I was blogging this, Aidan went and cleaned my room without being asked. He is soooo getting a quarter. Love to all my fellow CHO's (Chief Houseold Officers) Our families would be lost without us! Rock on women!

Dinnertime Solution

Halloween Night was great! We went trick or treating in the rain. The kids didn't care though. At each house they made sure to say "Thank You and Happy Halloween!"

Yes, that girl in the air is me, and yes, I am awesome.

Cornbellys is at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi,UT. We had a blast. Chalyn and Suzanne tried a deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was OK, not great. Everyone tried to get Aidan to go in the "Haunted Lizard" but he wasn't having it. Mikell went in the 1st part but got scared. Cousin Abby went right through with Jon and Chalyn. Mikell was very brave going down the big slides. We can't wait for Halloween!!

Witches Night Out!

My 3 sister in laws Annie, Suzanne, and Chalyn and I dashed on our brooms to our yearly Witches Night Out in Gardner Village. About 1000 people showed up dressed in witch costumes. First, we went to dinner at Applebees for some Fiesta lime chicken and Spinich artichoke dip. It was Dee-lish. We got a premium parking spot right across the street using our magical powers. We then proceeded to boogy down witchy style to music by DJ Demon(Music royally sucked. No more Dancing Queen or YMCA). We then flew to a nearby graveyard for a photo shoot. No zombies were spotted but we did see a cop drive into the cemetary after we left. Boy were our powers working last night! I have fun, awesome, talented, gorgeous witch-in-laws. Love Ya's!

1) go on drives through the fall leaves.
2) Shop with coupons and get killer deals. It's a rush to buy a box of granola bars for .40. I know. I need to get a real life.
3) I loooovvve to dance.
4) Sew things for my house or Halloweeen costumes and re-decorate rooms.
5) Get togethers with family. Including girls night out.

Remember sticking things up your nose as a kid? I stuck some beads up my nose during church once. I thought it was funny to stick it up there and then blow it out. I had a little scare when it didn't come right out so I ran to tell my mom and it flew out on the chapel floor. Wheww! Aidan and cousin Abby apparently both had "bloody noses."

I just want to say that I tried out a new recipe tonight that I got off the food network for split pea soup. It took me 2 1/2 hours to make. So I go to feed it to my family and they all hated it. Mikell actually gagged and almost threw up! Jon called it "Split Pea Poop." Does anyone else hate dinner time? Kids for Sale and husband!
